In 2019, more than 2.2 GW of new large-scale renewable generation capacity was added to the grid across 34 projects, representing $4.3 billion in investment and creating more than 4000 new jobs. This is in addition to the ~11.1 GW of new generation that was under construction or financially committed at the end of 2019 (Source – Clean Energy Council, 2020).

Our sector-leading expertise has been earned through working in close partnership with our renewable energy sector clients over the past decade in both the Australian and European markets. Our specialist team manages all aspects of risk and insurance for renewable energy assets and is ideally positioned to support the transition to a cleaner generation mix in Australia.

We support all parties involved in the development of renewable energy projects including Owners / Developers, Contractors, Manufacturers, Suppliers, Equity Investors and Financiers. Our involvement supports you at all stages of the project life-cycle including the (pre)development, construction and operational phases. Our core services include contractual advice and negotiation, advisory & due diligence services, budgetary premium forecasting, industry benchmarking and broking/placement services.

The breadth of our local and international experience and the depth of our relationships provide us with a unique ability to advise on the insurance placement outcomes achieved by a large cross-section of the renewables market as well as the provisions of precedent contractual agreements. This is extremely relevant in the context of negotiations with Debt & Equity Financiers, EPC and O&M Contractors, Offtakers, Transmission Network Provider’s, Suppliers and Lessors in relation to the risk and insurance provisions contained within the relevant project documents.

We are committed to developing innovative insurance and risk transfer solutions for our clients in the renewables sector. Our tailored approach strives to achieve an optimum combination of risk retention, risk control, and risk transfer. With seamless integration into BMS’ global Energy team, our renewable energy specialists can deliver highly competitive outcomes from local, regional and global insurance markets.
